Inner Peace Wellness
"Health is Inner Peace"
Inner
Peace Wellness
Yoga
Yoga is possibly one of the best practices you can do for yourself.
It makes you feel good physically as well as mentally and
emotionally. A great boon is less self-judgement. Yoga is not just
about the poses but about how to live the life you have been given.
It is a healthful practice in all respects.
There are many options for yoga in Fredericton, so what makes Inner
Peace Wellness Yoga different and why would you choose IPW? These
is an excellent question; click here to get a handy chart to help you
compare.
There
are many qualified teachers and a variety of styles, which is a
boon to all interested students. You can choose from a variety of
Kripalu teachers, Astanga, Viniyoga, "hatha yoga," Iyengar Yoga and
Integral Yoga. Since yoga is a deeply transformative practice
selecting a suitable teacher is important... it is necessary to
find a style and teacher that fit you to get the maximum benefit
from the practices.
Be sure to
choose a certified teacher, just as you would for any other
profession. A certified teacher will have a minimum training of 200
hours. The more advanced trainings recognized by the american Yoga
Association comprise 500 hours of training. I have exceed this 500
hour certification, as well as published a book and CD on yoga.
There are two more books and CDs that are almost ready for
press.
Although I
was trained as a Kripalu yoga teacher I would now call myself an
integrated Kripalu Yoga teacher because of the many modalities I
incorporate into teaching. Among the many different trainings that
I bring to yoga is my massage therapy knowledge of posture and
alignment that I use to ensure your safety and to facilitate a deep
energetic experience. This is a unique combination in Fredericton
as no other teacher is licensed as a massage therapist. I also
bring the philosophy and practices of iRest Yoga Nidra to your
practice.

The majority
of my students have improved their strength and range of movement
as well as reduced or eliminated such conditions as shoulder, neck
and back pain. Your safety is paramount to me so I pay a great deal
of attention to your alignment both for your safety as well as your
deeper inner experience. After all, your experience will be limited
by how safe you feel. Another example of integration is my recent
training as an iRest practitioner. This unique form of yoga nidra
is incorporated into every class in subtle and obvious ways.

I approach
yoga as a spiritual and life-transformative path; to me yoga is not
about the pose. I will never force you to fit the pose; instead I
will adapt the pose to your increasing abilities. Although the
poses are the most visible practice, Patanjali defined yoga as a
state of mind in which equanimity and Joy were the essential
qualities. I do not teach fitness yoga although that is certainly a
by-product. Happiness and equanimity in the midst of all life's
vicissitudes is much more valuable than a beautiful body; would you
rather have core emotional strength or core muscular strength? As
you age muscular strength will wane but emotional balance and
self-esteem are qualities you can carry throughout your life.

I believe
styles of "yoga" that focus solely on fitness or alignment are not
teaching Yoga, but an imitation. Patanjali, the sage who wrote one
of yoga's seminal texts, and to which all yoga traditions adhere,
said that there were eight practices that made up the scope of
yoga; these were 5 ethical restraints, 5 ethical observances,
postures, breathing and the mind training exercises of inward
focus, concentration, and meditation, which when practiced
consistently over a period of time led to a state of mind he called
samadhi. Unless a teacher is sharing all of these practices the
result will be a limited experience of what is possible. In my
courses you will be exposed to all of these practices, so that you
have an experience that changes who you think you are. As you
realize your True Nature your life will naturally change for the
better.
As an additional bonus
and incentive I give my students discounts on massage therapy.
These certificates never expire and are transferable. This is an
exclusive benefit of attending IPW Yoga courses.
I mentioned earlier that I have written three books and recorded 3
CDs of yoga practice. Each of the beginner courses includes a book
and CD as a part of your tuition. This is another reason to opt for
Inner Peace Yoga. This is a unmatched benefit.
