F***, Philip. You’re good. From one teacher to another; excellent presentation of material, attention to details, e.g., particulars of alignment, making the poses easier, caring for personal limitations.....

The program is what I expected and definitely what I need. I appreciate some of the challenges you provide, those where I was convinced I could not do them. At the same time I like your consideration when I truly have reached my limits which may vary from week to week depending on the state of my arthritis. I like the combination of exercise and meditation. Your meditation nicely complements my Buddist one which at this stage is more focused on being of benefit to others even though that should result in benefit for yourself. The relaxation and meditation increases my awareness about my body. I would very much like to eventually take an advanced class but I am not ready to give up the other activities I am involved in. I am already giving up Thursday meditation but you compensate me well for that. I don’t think I would like you to change anything, at least I cannot think of anything. I like the cats and I appreciate the flexibility, either when I miss classes or change to another day. I know it would be good if I could progress from one level to the next but basically for now anyway I’ve only Wednesdays and Thursdays and I know it would be impossible for you to accommodate everyone.

This was a great experience, Philip, though very different than other yoga I have done. In some ways it has been less demanding than ther yoga I have done, but that has actually been a good thing.

This has been an excellent exposure to yoga for a beginner. A good combination of poses and meditation - I like to have individual help with the poses during the CD - that is very helpful for practicing alone at home. I also like the flexibility to make up classes if needed. This experience has encouraged me to explore yoga more and to read more philosophy on my own to enhance what I learn in class. I highly recommend this class to my friends. I am interested in the healing power of yoga. Also, love the cats!

Philip, Ive been meaning to send you this for sometime now as a thank-you for your generosity for the yoga class. I went home with more peace in my spirit than Ive had since I left the ocean and the Sunshine coast. At the moment, logistics and childcare are a challenge in participating further in your nurturing classes, so I look forward to them when we become neighbours.

The more I practice the more I find that yoga sneaks into my day-to-day life. I can see changes in the way I in the way I make decisions and in the way I react to events happening around me. It has been an extremely positive journey.

I love coming out here on Tuesday evenings. I love the quiet, the and the generous spirit that I feel when I come through the doors.

Today I didn’t know how to respond to this questionnaire. I was tired, moody and filled with conflicting thoughts and emotions. Now that I’ve had a chance to meditate and BREATHE, I feel like a completely different person. AMAZING!

Philip, you’ve given me a gift. I’ll always be thankful for it. I’m growing and learning in a way I never expected and it’s truly warm.

So, as far as the class - I enjoy it. I think that the tempo is great and I’m always impressed at your attentiveness (and totally appreciate your non-judgement) and how you make the pose easier/harder depending on the person. I also enjoy the impromptu discussions and your perspective/analysis on the meaty topics. The way you present a pose, technique, breathing - is in a very logical way and very easy to learn.

Very much appreciate your hospitality and kindness - and your weekly Welcoming Committee (Agni!). Thank you.

I had a few experiences that I really didn’t expect but I find is a welcoming aspect that I’ve grown to look forward to every week. The first is walking through the doors and being welcomed, the sense of peace, and the quiet (both of outside noises and of personality). Within minutes the worry and frustrations went away. The second is experiencing a sense of alignment and the of my mind. The third and least expected is a sense of connection and comfort with those in the class. Truly an experience I hadn’t guessed would happen.

Class was more than expected. I really appreciate your guidance and attention to detail. Your very thoughtful approach and your openness to me. Walking in a half hour or more earlier than class and allowing me to vent so, that’s my experience. I really enjoyed the class (obviously!) but I want to mention that this is worth the half hour + drive even when the weather isn’t the greatest.

The course was challenging, but you keep it fun. I found a philosophy that fits with me; its like coming home. I also gained greater self-awareness, learned to breathe and relax, which has helped reduce my stress and helped me sleep. You explain each pose so well. It always amazes me how you can just touch the right way to make all the difference in the pose. Yoga always calms my mind and leaves me feeling open, accepting, and forgiving.

Since Ive been doing Philips yoga course I have learned to relax, I am more peaceful, balanced, serene and in touch with my feelings. Basically I am feeling great physically and emotionally. A friend and I once attended the first night of a different beginner’s yoga class and it was jam-packed with difficult moves and no mention even of what Yoga was. Needless to say we were turned off and didn’t return. Two years later we attended the same thing and it was a replica of the first experience.

[Your] class has opened up Yoga for me, something I might otherwise have laid by the wayside. I find both the mental and spiritual experience, in addition to the physical, important.

Your instruction is insightful and precise in method. Ive taken a variety of instruction in many areas through the years, but none where they have covered all the bases so well. I’ve learned more than just stretching and appreciate getting a fuller picture of yoga; of what yoga is and how it can help in so many ways. Its the whole package that you present that makes your teaching so effective.

The studio setting is beautiful, the music - trees - deer - cats are relaxing and the instruction is insightful and precise in method. I’ve taken a variety of instruction in many areas through the years - but none where they have covered all the bases so much.

I really enjoyed your class. The studio is absolutely beautiful. I love having the cats roaming and the atmosphere so peaceful and welcoming. I came for stretching for my piriformis syndrome. What I got was much more than I expected. I made a connection with yoga. The body, mind and spirit are starting to connect and understand each other. the room is calming. It is so pleasant. Great atmosphere. You have a wonderful voice, it is soft and very calming.

Yoga night is something I look forward to all week. The yoga room is such a pleasant room, bright and airy, it puts one in a relaxed state immediately. Each class is uniquely different, which makes it interesting and fun. I enjoy the combination of the class, the yamas during our centering, the poses, breathing practice and of course, the corpse pose and that wonderful quiet time at the end. I have gotten something different from each aspect of the class. Yoga has inspired me search for what is really important in life, push my own limits and discover the ways I need to go. Philip, I think I was in such a state of euphoria when I left, that I forgot to say thanks. That was really fun doing the partner yoga. I know its selfish on my part, but I love the individual attention too. Although I have nothing to compare your classes to, I know that you go "above and beyond" and I really do appreciate it. I found the C Class to be a natural progression from the B. The in tensity increase iun the poses was what I was looking for, and the spiritual elements of practice alsos become more of a challenge, more of a stimulation . The C level class was a deeper experience in general though that may have been because I had a base to build upon. I looked forward to each class, and feel that the instruction (?) provided was individual and well thought out. Support and growth (?) in all their many ways.

Years ago I took a class with you and I’ve been telling myself to get back into practicing Yoga. I am glad that I have because it brings me a peaceful mind and teaches me really great exercises. As well, I’ve met some really neat people. There are so many benefits to Yoga that I can’t explain either than if someone is contemplating trying Yoga - don’t even think about it - just come to a class. Philip is excellent at what he teaches and also makes sure things are correct for alignments as well always reminding you to smile!

I am so glad I’ve come back and now I can’t imagine Yoga not a part of my life.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I was able to physically do in the class, as I had thought that my back pain would prevent me from doing a lot. I also found that when I would leave at the end of the night my back would feel a lot better.

Thank you Philip! I’d be more thankful if I won the loggery and could retire and come in every class that you offered. I am looking forward to ‘graduating’ to Wednesday evenings and the new experiences that are in store for me even though I’ve taken each beginner course twice - I still learn something new each class. You’re explanations and demonstrations of the poses and breathes are very helpful even if the pose was from the week before - seeing it again I sometimes catch something I hadn’t noticed or had forgotten. You didn’t tell any stories in this ‘A’ Class (U - “Invite your Fear to Tea” which I truly enjoyed and have learnt to put in use often so that would be my one suggestion to do differently. I always feel better after a class - so thank you very much.

I liked the personalized attention to problems and requests as well as the mellow feeling, whether we did a workout or a relaxing class. I loved being pampered with a blanket during shavasana. (relaxation pose)

I see the strengths of your yoga classes as: 1) attention to safety and comfort 2) personalized attention, including adaptation of poses for individual needs 3) quality of the studio and equipment 4) information on the emotional and spiritual benefits of yoga, as well as the physical benefits 5) pacing of new information and 6) a relaxed atmosphere, in which questions are welcomed. I think that you are offering a superior yoga experience, so your challenge is to overcome the Fredericton misperception that Carlisle Road is far! You are welcome to use my comments. I forgot to say that yoga is the best method I've ever come across to quiet the mind!
